How it Started

Announcements:

3/21/2003  All of the presentations have been scheduled for the conference.  View the Schedule by Room.  If you are doing a poster presentation you have been assigned to the Main Lounge, easels will be set up early in the morning in presentation number order.  It is difficult to fit all of the easels into the main lounge so they will be very spread out on both levels of the main lounge area of the CMU.  This year's conference is the biggest yet with 156 Presentations/258 Presenters.  Presenters please review the equipment list to see what has been requested for your room:  Equipment List Report

2/24/2003  So far there are 156 presentations and 240 registered presenters for this year's Student Academic Conference!  The Student Academic Conference is a one-day conference that features presentations of MSUM students. This year's conference will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2003 in the Comstock Memorial Union.

Are you a Presenter?

For those students who have already submitted your presentation information on-line, please do the following by Tuesday, March 4 before 10:00 p.m.  After this date, the information is going to print and how it appears on the web is how it will appear in the booklet.  It is important that you verify the following:

  1. Check to make sure the spelling of your name is correct (If your name is listed more than once it means you are presenting more than once).  If your name isn't there, then there was a problem with submitting your name.  Find your presentation by reviewing abstracts and send an e-mail to indicate that your name should be added to which presentation.  e-mail acconf@mnstate.edu Also note your presentation time and location:  http://appserv.mnstate.edu/acadconf/2003/list_of_presenters.asp

  2. Check your abstract for errors. The abstracts are listed in presentation number order, i.e. the reference number next to your name on the alphabetical list.  There are multiple submissions of applications, if you notice one that belongs to you please e-mail acconf@mnstate.edu and indicate which abstract needs to be deleted.  Also, if you are making revisions to the text of your abstract, it is much easier for us if you send us the entire copy of your abstract via e-mail so we can replace the entire section, rather than going in and editing one or two words. http://appserv.mnstate.edu/acadconf/2003/listing_report.asp

  3. Verify your meal choice:  If you selected a meal, seating for the luncheon starts at 11:15 a.m. and serving will be begin promptly at 11:30 a.m.  We have a very tight lunch schedule so please be early.  We spend a lot of money on providing meals for presenters, if you reserved a meal and do not attend you will be billed for the cost of that meal. http://appserv.mnstate.edu/acadconf/2003/student_details.asp

  4. Poster Presenters:
You can start setting up your posters at 7:30 a.m. Your poster will be on display all day, but you will be assigned a session time to be at your poster to answer questions for any of the conference attendees.  Other Presenters:  You can check in at the information table anytime prior to lunch in order to receive your meal ticket and anytime prior to your presentation if you are not attending the luncheon.

  5. Check out the conference web page:  http://web.mnstate.edu/acadconf/2003/

  6. Check out the conference schedule:  http://web.mnstate.edu/acadconf/2003/schedule.html

  7. Consider attending the presenter information sessions to help you prepare for the conference:  http://web.mnstate.edu/acadconf/2003/seminar.html

  8. Thank you for your attention to these matters! If you have questions or updates please send them to acconf@mnstate.edu

  9. Watch for updates including:  Equipment request verification and Session, Time, and Room assignments.

02/11/2003:  Presentation applications for the Student Academic Conference are now available throughout campus (particularly academic departments) hanging from the red conference posters. If you are interested in presenting please pick up an application and submit it before Thursday, February 20.
