Part VIII - Personnel


Compliance with the Laboratory Safety Standard is a shared responsibility. The following individuals and groups have responsibilities for implementation of various aspects of the Minnesota State University Moorhead's Chemical Safety Plan.


 1.  Chemical Safety Officer

MSUM's Chemical Safety Officer is Joy Haarstick, Chemical Stockroom Manager, Chemistry Department. Office is located in the Science Lab Building, Room 402. Phone: 477-2246.


2.  Departmental Laboratory Safety Officer

Each department should appoint a departmental laboratory safety officer whose name should be listed with the EH&S office. The specific duties of each safety officer should be determined at the department level.


3.  College or Departmental Safety Committee

The designation of a safety committee to assist the Laboratory Safety Officers in his/her required duties are strongly encouraged. 


4.  Environmental Health and Safety Committee

MSUM has designated this committee to provide oversight in addressing campus-wide safety and health issues.


5.  Department of Environmental Health & Safety

The Department of Environmental Health & Safety offers assistance in a wide range of health and safety issues.


6.  Occupational Physician

To be designated by MSUM.
