Meet the 2012 MFA Graduates. (Left to Right) Sarah Beck (Fiction), Jennifer Bakken-Brees (Screenwriting), Cindy Deuser (Fiction), Ryan Christiansen (Fiction). Missing: Megan Baule (Poetry), graduated December 2011.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Students specialize in poetry, fiction, playwriting, screenwriting, or creative nonfiction; however, they are encouraged to experiment in more than one genre during their time in the program. They also have the opportunity to work with New Rivers Press, the oldest nonprofit small press in the country, or with Red Weather, the campus literary magazine. There are additional opportunities for electives in the MSUM English Department.

The MFA is a terminal degree, qualifying the holder to teach creative writing at the University level. More importantly, it is a program of study for those who wish to improve their creative writing abilities by studying with published writers and with other talented student writers.
| If you'd like more information, contact Thom Tammaro, MFA Coordinator; or visit the Graduate Studies Home Page. We would love to hear from you and tell you about the unique opportunities available in the Upper Midwest for creative writing students. |
