Governments on the WWW -- A useful beginning point for locating information from worldwide governments as well as information about the governments. "Comprehensive database of governmental institutions on the World Wide Web: parliaments, ministries, offices, law courts, embassies, city councils, public broadcasting corporations, central banks, multi-national organizations etc. Includes also political parties. Online since June 1995. Contains more than 12000 entries from 219 countries and territories as of April 1999. Frequently updated."
FIRST (Facts on International Relations and Security Trends) -- "A free-of-charge service for politicians, journalists, researchers and the interested public." You will find stats and facts by country on a wide variety of topics. They include: Military expenditures; Arms Production and Trade; Memberships, Agreements, and Events; Conflicts and Peace Keeping Activities; and Political System and Country Indicators.
