Health Promotion Wellness Educator Job Description
MSUM Hendrix Clinic & Counseling Center
As an extension of Hendrix Clinic & Counseling Center and Minnesota State University Moorhead, Wellness Educators develop and implement activities designed to encourage positive lifestyles. The goals of Wellness Educators are to:
- Give students a practical work experience in developing and implementing a health promotion effort.
- Give students training and experience in organizational management and leadership.
- Develop a student-driven effort to create a healthier campus.
- Attend spring training sessions.
- Attend fall training sessions.
- Attend weekly staff meetings - 1 hour each week determined by Wellness Educator's class schedules.
- Serve on Wellness Education Program Committees
- Work individually and with other Wellness Educators on health promotion as assigned.
- Assist in the recruitment, selection, and training of future interns.
- Assist in evaluation of promotional efforts.
The time commitment for this unpaid internship is approximately 3 hours per week. Applicants should note that this time commitment will involve varied work environments, including individual work, committee work, and large group activities. The actual time commitment will vary during the year, depending on the projects assigned.

Qualifications
- Open to any MSUM student.
- Minimum 1 academic year commitment.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- Ability to manage time and stress well.
- Past experience in public speaking, program planning, and working with events at MSUM are helpful but not required.

Application and Selection Process (Spring semester for following academic year)
Step 1: Candidate must complete and submit an application form to Hendrix. The application form is linked on the Hendrix webpage under Wellness Educators as a PDF form and can be filled out and submitted to Hendrix. Applications can also be picked up at the front desk at Hendrix.
Step 2: Candidates will be called to schedule a personal interview by Lynn Peterson.
Step 3: Candidates will be selected and notified following all interviews.
Step 4: Training for the upcoming academic year begins in April.
