Dear Honors students:
As many of you know, I was appointed late last summer to replace Dr. Morrow who is on sabbatical this academic year. Over the last couple of weeks, I have had the fortune of meeting a number of you. Your energy, creativity, and interest in the Honors program has energized me. I hope to serve you and the program well.
I would like to inform you that Cat Wack will be the Assistant to the Director this academic year. I trust that with her assistance we will be able to improve communications with you and to launch a few initiatives.
Since many of you have asked me about possible changes in the program, below I am including the agenda for the next Honors Program Committee meeting. Please discuss the agenda items and proposed Honors program changes and provide me your feedback.
It has become clear that many Honors students are not in this listserve, so please share this message with other honors students.
Again, I hope to serve you well and I trust that with your help we can make this a a better program.

Meeting: Sept 7, 2pm, MA 268:
1. Introduction
2. Proposed changes in Program requirements (while I know in the spring semester Randy Cagle met with the committee about this issue, it is worthwhile reviewing it)
3. How to keep track of honors students?
4. On campus events. I have been discussing with a number of honors students the possibility of opening up what events may count as Lecture series requirements--they seem interested in that. If the committee chooses to endorse the idea, what events are we willing to count--eg. Cornel West, Performing Arts, plays, art exhibitions, etc?
5. Honors socials after some events
6. Honors students discovery trips (for example, go to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts guided by an art professor)
7. Generate ideas for some lecture series presenters
8. Possible honors courses for 2012-13
9. Other
