Disaster Recovery Plan
Form 105 Recovery Plan Assumptions
Item #
Recovery Plan Assumptions |
1
The Recovery Plan is targeted at the total unavailability of the computer center. Any conditions that are less
than this can be viewed as a subset of the total plan. The level of detail in the plan will be determined at the
beginning of the project. Essentially the Recovery Planning process is assuming a total disaster.
2
The Recovery Plan must presume that all computer services may have to resume in a location different from
the current location. This insures that all required data will be properly maintained in an offsite storage location,
will be accessible, and will have backup procedures properly audited.
3
The Recovery Plan itself will be immediately available following a disaster situation and will provide the proper
instructions for its execution by individuals designated to carry out certain activities.
4
Proper training, education, and testing will be part of the company's commitment to this project. This will
reduce the instructions that would be required for execution of the plan by a novice if required.
5
Proper maintenance of the Recovery Plan will be part of the ongoing commitment of the company using the
BASIC-RECOVERY methodology. This is very important to all involved for if the plan is not properly
maintained and is called upon for use in an emergency situation, the likelihood of problems is significantly
6
In the event of a disaster, the use of different hardware and/or software is highly undesirable as it could create
additional problems. The ideal situation keeps the technical requirements as close to those currently in place
in the computer center as possible thus minimizing potential confusion at a time when it would hinder recovery.
7
The Recovery Plan will focus on the potential impact, not the probability of occurrence.
8
Where possible the Recovery Plan will seek to mitigate risk.
