“Celia Zapata was my advisor at San José State University and it was in her class that I first met Isabel Allende.  I later went on to write my M.A. thesis on two of Allende’s novels under the direction of Celia Zapata.  These two incredibly talented women have had a profound influence on my study and understanding of literature and I am grateful to them both.”
