The Problem with Barcodes
In order to access Library databases and interlibrary loan services, students will need to have a barcode. Please encourage your students to determine if they have a working barcode (try logging into a database from off-campus). If students do not have a database have them see the following:
1. If you are able to travel to campus, barcoded photo ID
cards are available at the Dragon Card Office, Information Technology, LI 203A for all students.
The barcoded photo ID card is your form of identification as a MSU Moorhead
student. The barcode on the card is used to check out materials in the
Library and to access library databases remotely. Check the Dragon Card
Office web site http://web.mnstate.edu/dragoncard/
for policies and procedures.
2. If you are not able to travel to campus, check with your major department. Some departments have made arrangements with the Dragon Card Office to generate ID cards for distance education students.
3. If your department has not made arrangements with the Dragon Card office, send an email to the Library Circulation department (circdesk@mnstate.edu) with your name and Dragon number. The Dragon Card office will generate the a barcode number, the library will activate it and the barcode will be e-mailed to you by the Library. You will not have a physical ID card, but if you are on campus you can have one printed in the Dragon Card Office.
