Library Services for Distance Learning 


Mailing of Books and Articles

This service is available only to those students enrolled in courses coded by the university

as distance education.


The library will mail MSUM books and other materials obtained through interlibrary loan (books and

articles) to distance education students at no charge. Students will be responsible for mailing the materials

back to the library (copies of articles do not need to be returned). A mailing label will be provided for this

purpose. Books and other media may also be returned to the library. 


The library will mail or fax copies of articles from magazines and journals that are not available online but are owned by the library.


When requesting materials, add the text "Distance education student.  Mail/FAX (and include FAX # if using this option)" in the Notes box.  Please see the following example.

The library will fax copies of journal articles to students enrolled in distance education programs at no cost from journals we own.  The page limit for this service will be 25 pages.


The library will mail copies of journal articles to students enrolled in distance education programs from journals we own.  Articles under 50 pages will be mailed at no cost.  Students will be charged $5.00 per article for articles over 50 pages.  An invoice will be sent to the student with the article.  Non-payment for articles will result in suspension of the service for the individual student.

The interlibrary loan office will not fax, mail, or email copies of articles that are available

full-text online.
