Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q. "Can any student organization apply for activity funding?"
A. Only recognized student organization can receive activity fee funding. However, if your organization is pending, you may still apply for funds, however, approval will only be possible if your organization gets recognized before the Student Activity Budget Committee's (SABC) final decision which will take place early January.
Q. "What does Fiscal Year 2013 mean?"
A. A Fiscal Year is also known as Budget Year and it is a 12 month period used for financial purposes. The university's Fiscal Year 2013 begins July 1, 2012 and ends June 30, 2013.
Q. "Where do these funds originate from?"
A. Every MSUM Student pays a student activity fee which can be found as a line item on your tuition and fees bill statement. These fees are distributed to different areas on campus that serve the student body, one of those areas being the Student Activity Budget Committee (SABC). SABC then allocates those funds to recognized student organizations and student-activity concentrated programs which are able to offer you a diversity of opportunities on campus.
Q. "I do not have a copy of our previous year application, is there any way I can obtain that?"

Q.“What is the process involved with the Fiscal Year 2013 Budget Application?"
A. The budget allocation (decision-making) process will be conducted by Student Activity Budget Committee (SABC) members starting early in January. Once SABC approves the budget amount for next year for each student organization, SABC submits their funding recommendation to Student Senate and President Szymanski. Senate and President Szymanski need to approve the allocation recommendations made by SABC before funding amounts for next year can be released.
