The Heritage Education Commission is an organization of MSU Moorhead developed for the purpose of creating, initiating, and conducting programs and projects that aid in the preservation or restoration of the cultural heritage of our service region.
MSUM’s children’s enrichment programs include College for Kids, a summer camp offering that features a variety of kid-friendly topics for children 8 to 12 years of age. College for Kids features a variety of topics, including Carnegie for Kids, Architect Your World, Painting Masterpieces, and Power Up as well the classic favorites such as Scuba Diving, Pottery on the Wheel, WHO-Dunnit, and Learn to be a Magician. Classes are taught by MSU Moorhead faculty members. The AI: the Summer Algebra Institute is a math enrichment program using music and hands-on materials, activities, and games to preview important algebra topics while connecting algebra with arithmetic facts and concepts
Recent nonprofit professionals programs include: Measuring Program Outcomes, The Essentials of Nonprofit Administration, Grant Writing Bootcamp, Northern Plains Conference on Aging and Disability, and Human Trafficking: Prostitution 101. Recent business professionals programs offered by Continuing Studies include Certified Supply Chain Professional Program, Minnesota Real Estate Pre-Licensure Training, and the Dale Carnegie Course.
The mission of MSUM’s Customized Education and Training Program is to meet the learning needs of individuals, teams, businesses, agencies, and organizations by providing high-quality, tailored knowledge and skills development programs that result in personal, professional and economic growth.
The Regional Science Center is a leader in K-12 science education outreach, providing programs for over 9,700 K-12 students each year. All programs are designed to match the uniqueness of the center’s facilities to the curricular needs of students. In total, more than 17,000 area students and residents participate in learning opportunities each year at the Center’s two locations. The Buffalo River site, located 15 miles east of Moorhead, features the Paul P. Feder Observatory, an interpretive center and miles of nature trails that wind through 300 acres of tallgrass prairie and hardwood forests. The newly remodeled Planetarium, located on campus, offers a regular series of public programs as well as private group events.
MSUM’s Early Education Center provides a top quality, educationally based program for the children of students, faculty, staff and community members. The Center offers opportunities for children ages 16 months to 6 years to explore and learn about themselves and their environment. The commitment and desire to provide excellence experiences for the children has earned the Center a reputation as one of the top quality childcare centers in the region and is one of only 12 preschools in the region accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
