Transit of Venus Tuesday June 5th  Special Event!
4:30 - 6:30 pm

MSUM Parking Lot V-5 (Between 6th and 7th Avenue South on 11th Street South, Moorhead)

See an event more rare than a solar eclipse! On June 5, the planet Venus will pass in front of the Sun, partially blocking the Sun's light. Astronomers all over the world will be watching this event, something that will not happen again until December 2117!  We will have telescopes and special equipment for safely viewing the planet Venus as it crosses the Sun's bright face. If it’s cloudy, we will have a webcast from Hawaii broadcast in the MSUM Planetarium (Bridges Hall 167).

With our full-dome digital system, we can orbit the planets, zoom in on interesting features, and even visit their moons. After touring the planets and learning more about them, children will have the opportunity to cast their votes for their favorite planet!
