Syllabus Addendum

Welcome back. I sincerely hope you and your families made it through the flood with as little damage as possible. Let’s all hope the second crest is lower than is being predicted.

Now we have to switch back to academic mode and try to salvage the remainder of the semester. Due to the weather-related cancellations of classes on March 10 (blizzard), 24, 26, 31 and April 2 (flood) we’re making the following modifications:

• Class dates: Tuesday April 21 and Thursday May 7 are now instructional days – we will have class those days.
• Topics & Readings: I have dropped several topics – primarily politics and economics. I  will try to move through the remaining material as efficiently as possible. I thank you greatly in advance for your cooperation.
• Exams: The final exam will still be cumulative and will still be given on the same day and time.
• Quizzes. I am reducing the number of quizzes to five. We’ve already had two and we’ll have two more before the final. Quiz 5 will be the last day of class and it will essentially be 10 free points.
