In case of a severe weather the University may either cancel classes or close.

  1. Class cancellation-All classes are cancelled and students are excused. The University’s services remain open.
  2. University closed-All classes are cancelled (students excused). The normal University operations and programs are closed. Essential services must be maintained.
To determine if the University has cancelled classes or closed check MSUM web page at web.mnstate.edu, or listen to local (Fargo/Moorhead) radio and TV broadcasts. Emergency information is also available from the Public Safety Office (218.477.2449). The University makes a determination to cancel or close based on a number of safety and weather considerations. Students should always check local weather and road conditions and make a personal judgment relative to their location and circumstances prior to travel.
