
MSUM students can study at Kanda University for International Studies, located near Tokyo in Japan's Chiba prefecture. The 10-month intensive Japanese language program allows MSUM students to study at KUIS while paying regular MSUM tuition. Located in Yokohama, immediately south of Tokyo, Kanto Gakuin has programs in intensive Japanese language and culture. Students pay MSUM tuition for this program, which is ideal for East Asian Studies majors. Located in Nagoya, Japan's fourth largest city, the Institute for Japanese Studies allows MSUM students the opportunity to study Japanese language and culture at one of five proficiency levels. Students pay regular MSUM tuition for this intensive Japanese language and culture program, located two hours west of Tokyo. Students may study at APU, Beppu, Japan for a semester or a year. This exchange may be an excellent opportunity for students who require a study abroad experience, where they are not concentrating solely on language acquisition, as many courses are taught in English. However, students would be expected to take a Japanese language course in addition to their other courses. Students need a 2.5 GPA. Click here for more information.

Spend a year or a semester at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea, one of Asia's largest cities. MSUM students can enroll in over 100 courses taught strictly in English, or take Korean language and culture courses, taught in both Korean and English. To encourage interaction with Koreans, MSUM students may be nominated to receive free accommodations and to be given an internship opportunity for teaching English to high school or CAU students on campus. The paid internship will average a twelve-hour-per-week workload. MSUM students may also have the opportunity to work as an English tutor at the English lounge on the CAU campus. Ideal for East Asian Studies majors, Nankai University is located in Tianjin, one of China's largest and most cosmopolitan cities. Students may spend a year or a semester at Nankai, earning 12 credits pr semester in Chinese language and culture. Because of the direct-enrollment nature of this program, tuition and fees are paid to Nankai, and total costs are currently less than MSUM's tuition, making the program one of our most affordable. Study Mandarin language or take courses taught in English on one of two campuses in Taiwan (Taoyuan or Taipei). English courses include international business and management; journalism and mass communications applied information technology; travel and tourism; teaching Chinese as a second language.
