Short synopsis:
“Tell me why mama.”
Spring Awakening, Frank Wedekind's groundbreaking 1890s play, is a daring exploration of teenage sexual awakening set against a backdrop of religious and parental repression. The audience can only pity the confused adolescents squeezed in its vise: pretty buds bursting into doom.
Casting notes:
The play is written with 8 roles for women, and 27 roles for men. There may be some doubling in the play, and some roles may have changes in gender.
- The play includes some scenes that involve sexuality and partial (but not full) nudity for one man and one woman.
- There is also a kiss between two men.
