Homework:  There will be homework due almost every day.  Each assignment will be scaled to be worth 10 points (see below), they will not be accepted late, and I will drop about 20% of them.  The exact number of dropped assignments will be announced when I know exactly how many assignments there will be.  Some assignments will likely be due on test days.

The due time for all assignments is 12:00 noon on the day due or when I start grading, whichever is later.

To scale the assignments, I will take the points earned, divided by the points possible, and multiply by ten.  If the decimal portion starts with a two or larger, then I will round up.  If it starts with a zero or a one, I will round down.  Therefore, in order to get the full ten points on the assignment, you only need to get 92% on it.

Portfolio Proofs:  There will be eight Portfolio Proofs, which must meet a certain distribution.  See the Portfolio Proof information page for details.

Exams:  Each regular exam covers the material since the last exam.  The final exam will cover the entire course.  No exam score will be dropped or replaced.

I give makeup exams rarely and only with valid, documented reasons that are given as soon as reasonably possible. In particular, this means before the exam.  This also means that I assume that if you are sick enough to miss the exam, I assume that you are sick enough to go to the student health center.  The health center can provide you with a signed and dated note saying that you were seen by a doctor (I do not need to know what you were seen for).  The documentation should be consistent with the excuse (health center note for illness, police report for a car accident the morning of the exam, funeral program or obituary for a funeral, etc.).  Makeup exams will not be graded until the documentation has been submitted.  In addition, all makeup exams will be given only on Study Day, which is Wednesday May 4.

If you have a family or personal reason for missing class, I presume that you either already have those events scheduled or that you will schedule them around the exam dates.  If you already have them scheduled, you need to let me know by Tuesday March 29 of the conflict, or a makeup exam will not be given.

If you have a conflict with an exam due to a university approved function (such as a Career Fair or an athletic event), you need to let me know at least two weeks in advance of the missed exam.
