Intermediate Algebra Policies

Mathematics Department Attendance Policy for Math 099:

Any student that accrues more than 2 unexcused absences will fail the course.

An excused absence will be granted only if the instructor is supplied with written and verifiable reasons and the instructor deems the absence necessary.

Grading Policy

• Two 100 pt. exams, each exam is cumulative and takehome.
• Three projects each worth between 30-40 pts.
• Regular quizzes will be administered with the lowest quiz dropped at the end of the semester
• Final exam is cumulative and worth 200 pts given on May 1.

No late work will be accepted.

If you miss class the day of an exam and have not made arrangements prior to the exam you will receive a zero.

Grading Scale

A > 90%

B = 80% - 89%

C = 70% - 79%

D = 60% - 69%

F < 60%

Algebra builds on previous concepts so if you are having trouble in chapters 1 or 2 get help immediately. Please e-mail me with questions or make an appointment my office is in Lommen 214-I. Math tutors are available in the math office (3rd floor MacLean). Individual tutors can be arranged through the counseling center.

In the case of bad weather you are to use your best judgment to decide if you can safely make it to campus. Mr. Harms will be teaching class unless Moorhead State University is closed. If it is not possible to make it to class please call and arrange a time with Mr. Harms to get the assignment and go over the lesson.
