Course
Description: Trigonometric functions, identities,
applications.
Prerequisite:
Knowledge of algebra.
Required Text: ALGEBRA & TRIGONOMETRY , 4th edition, by Blitzer

Improve
ability to solve problems and to communicate solutions in a precise manner.

Understand
the theory and applications of trigonometry.
·
Solve
multi-step problems and perform complex tasks.
·
Develop
the capacity for rigorous analytical thought.

Understand
the definition of the six trigonometric functions.
·
Know
basic trigonometric identities and be able to use them to verify other
identities.

Use
trigonometry to solve for parts of triangles.
·
Understand
and be able to use inverse trigonometric functions.

Solve
trigonometric equations.
GRADING:
There
will be three one hour exams, four scheduled quizzes and a final exam.. Each of the one hour exams will be worth 100 points, while the final exam will be
worth 200 points The quizzes will be worth a total of 100 points. At the
discretion of the professor, supplemental problems may be assigned for
credit. These problems will be
distributed in class and the due date will be announced at that time. Each student is responsible for obtaining,
completing and submitting such assignments by the due date. Grading will be based on total points and the
following percentages, although pluses or minuses may also be used.

Calculators: No
graphing calculators or calculators on cell phones can be used during exams or
quizzes. A mathematical calculator with
logarithmic, exponential, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions is required.
Please turn CELL PHONES OFF during
class.
