Course Description:
A continuation of the rigorous treatment of concepts of calculus and
foundations of mathematics, including the Riemann integral, infinite
series, sequences of functions and uniform convergence.
Prerequisite:
Math 361.
Required Text:
INTRODUCTION TO ANALYSIS, 5th edition by Edward D.
Gaughan

Increase the
capacity to reason deductively.

Develop the
ability to create and properly communicate the proofs of statements.
·
Understand
the theory of calculus.
·
Develop the
capacity for rigorous analytical thought.
·
Understand
the definition of limit of a sequence, limit of a function, continuity, and
·
differentiality.
·
Be able to
use these definitions to prove theorems
·
Understand
the relationships between these concepts.
GRADING:
There will be
three 100 points hour exams.
There will also be an exam given during the final exam period, possibly
comprehensive, worth 100-200 points.
Scheduled in class or take home quizzes will be given and be worth
150-200 points.
