The activity just completed, a variation on the game of Pictionary, reveals that there are certain images that we prefer as referents to our words. Most people draw the following image-word relationships when asked to play a standard game of Pictionary:

Bird
Furniture
Winter
Chair

It is rare that anyone in this class draws any other bird image than the two above, and a large piece of funriture such as a sofa or desk or bed is always drawn for furniture, never an end table or a lamp. Winter is always represented by snow, and a chair is almost always a straight-backed chair.
