Read the pairs of sentences below and consider the meanings.  Is there a difference in meaning? If so, what is the difference, and does it connect to the forms at all?

  1. I remembered to lock the door this morning. First remember, then lock
  2. I remembered locking the door this morning. First lock, later remember

 

  1. I forgot to change the schedule. First forget, so never changed
  2. I forgot changing the schedule. First changed, later forgot
  1. We stopped to talk. First stopped, then talked
  2. We stopped talking. First talked, then stopped

 

  1. They worked hard to find a solution. First worked, then maybe found
  2. They worked hard finding a solution. First worked, then found.
There are differences meaning. It seems to be related to the time order of the two actions, but not always.
