Solution to Exercise 3.10.
The
greatest good you can do for [students] is not just to share your riches but to
reveal to [them their] own.
—Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881)
Exercise 3.10. Find the two line l[l1, l2, l3] that represent the
two coordinate axes.
The line on the x1-axis must pass through the origin and (1, 0, 1). Hence, by Proposition 3.1, Evaluate the determinant to obtain –x2 = 0 or Thus, the line is [0, 1, 0].
The line on the x2-axis must pass through the origin and (0, 1, 1). Hence, by Proposition 3.1, Evaluate the determinant to obtain x1 = 0 or Thus, the line is [1, 0, 0].
