-PSY 231 Stats/Methods I
 Spring 2008 Lab Assignment 5
Points: 20

Part I (10  points)

This part of the assignment requires students to use SPSS to calculate a correlation coefficient. Students will complete this part of the assignment in lab.

1a) Enter the data (note: n = 32) and use SPSS to compute the correlation coefficient and produce the scatterplot. Print the results.

Somewhere on your print-out, answer the following questions about this data set.

1b)  State the null hypothesis and the alternative hypothesis.

1c)  Look back at the print-out of your results and state your decision regarding the null hypothesis (retain Ho or reject Ho?). Justify your decision.

1d) What conclusion can you  make about the relationship between the two variables?
