General Instructions

This course consists of three lecture classes and a laboratory class per week. This being the follow up course to the Analytical Chemistry I, a familiarity of the material from CHEM380 will be extremely helpful.

Lecture material will be tested in relatively equally spaced examinations (four, including the final). Please see the syllabus for pre-final examination dates. The final examination date, time and the venue is given in the Fall semester calendar. Any student who wish to take the final examination before the scheduled date must obtain special permission from the Dean of Science. It has been the practice to conduct the examinations in the evenings because it will allow the students with a little more time.

The laboratory is an integral part of the program. Every effort will be made to set up laboratory exercises to follow the lecture material closely, however deviations are inevitable. Attendance for all lecture classes and the completion of all laboratories is required. A pre-laboratory session will precede every lab exercise. The purpose of this pre-lab session is to clarify theoretical concepts and procedural details of the experiment. Any pre-lab exercises assigned must be completed before the pre-lab discussion.

We expect the students to follow safe and environmentally friendly laboratory practices at all times. All hazardous waste materials must be stored in designated containers. Every student must possess a passing grade from the Moorhead State University Safety course. Failure to do so will result us to withhold the final grade.
