You can click on the fotos and get a larger image. These are unedited and not cleaned up at all. Just dumped into IPhoto to make a quickie webpage. There are 3 webpages with about 50 pics on each.

Some fotos (there are 133) of the area around our neighborhood. All of this activity is about 400 feet from where we live. At this moment the river is at the 1997 flood levels of just under 40' and is now expected to crest between 42-43'. SH**! The river is just on the other side of the wooded area in the first couple of pictures. These were taken early this evening after working with the guys in the pics with the dike behind us. Later in the page you'll notice a blue wall that was being built, we unloaded the sandbags that go with that wall, which is 1500' long. Crazy technology!! The guys in the photos with me drove up from Minneapolis this a.m. to help out. Complete strangers who have no tie to Fargo at all. They left after the photo was taken and went back to the Cities. Where we are standing is the corner of the permanent dike, again about 400' from our place.

Later in the pages you'll see a tractor trailer with a load of bags. We (about 20 of us) unloaded 2 of those this morning. If you get through all the fotos you'll see an NBC truck, CBC and various news organizations from around the region. You'll also see a BUNCH of traffic.... which we never have. The first long line of traffic is right outside of where we live. The only way through town is now across the Main Avenue (Veterans Memorial) Bridge, which you'll see later. There are 8 bridges that cross the Red River on a normal day. Today isn't one of them. The shot of the TV guy towards the end after the NBC truck was a live Weather Channel broadcast.

They have two mandatory evacuations going on as I type. All of Moorhead, south of I-94 and west of 8 Street South, and all of South Fargo south of 52nd Ave and east of HWY 81. This is bad!

More later. I am sore... need some Aleve and a beer. Thank GOD I am on the 4th floor tonight.

Mike
