Lecture Information:

Piaget's Learning Model is one of the more profound models for learning that has yet been proposed.  Look carefully at the diagram given below.  Please note how the function of adaptation to the demands of a new environment work in this model.

Schemes:

As you can see from the diagram, this is a dynamic model in which movement occurs for the learner.  The first stage is for the learner's existing knowledge base to be noted.  Piaget calls this the learner's "Schemes."  Schemes are the sum total of all of the learners current knowledge, skills and abilities that they have complete control over.  For example, since you are reading this we can surmise that you have complete control over the English alphabet.  That would be part of your scheme.
