This site contains a growing list of machine readable data. Registration is required to receive data. Nominal charges are made for data shipped on CD. Among the data available to registered users is the Great Britain Historical Database Online.

*Canadian Families Project
This team worked on creating a national sample from the 1901 Canadian Census.

*Census and Property Survey for Florentine Domains and the City of Verona in Fifteenth Century Italy
The Catasto data set and documentation is available for download at this site. This data set consists of data from census and propert tax surveys conducted between 1427 and 1502. The data is stored at the Data and Program Library Services web site at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

*Demographic Data Base
A source of historical demographic data for Sweden.

*Economic History Services Data
This site contains a variety of U.S. historical data files dealing with local and regional labor markets. In addition, there is also a dataset containing demographic information on the U.S. population and a data set that contains information on the value of greenback issues over time.

*The Historical Sample of the Netherlands
The Historical Sample of the Netherlands contains data on a representative sample of approximately 80,000 individuals born between 1812 and 1922.

*Integrated Canadian-American Public Use Microdata Series (ICAPUMS)
This extremely large data set consists of merged data from the Canadian national census of 1871 and the U.S. censuses of 1850 and 1880. The data is in SPSS format and contains data on more than 724,000 individuals.

* Integrated Public Use Microdata Series (IPUMS)
The IPUMS files have been created by the Historical Census Project at the University of Minnesota. These are public use microdata files from U.S. national censuses conducted between 1850 and 1990. Data files have been organized in a consistent way for each census. An extract program is available at this site that construct subsets containing fewer observations and/or variables.

*NBER historical macroeconomic series

*The North Atlantic Population Project
The North Atlantic Population Project is a joint effort by researchers in 8 universities or statistical agencies to create a uniform set of machine readable census data for the North Atlantic region from the mid 19th century to the present. The format is compatible with the IPUMS format. Currently, data is available from the Canada (1981 census), Iceland (1870, 1880, 1901 censuses), Norway (1865 and 1900 censuses) and the U.S. (1880 census).

*The Norwegian Historical Data Centre
The Norwegian Historical Data Centre is encoding and disseminating data from the Norwegian censuses beginning with the 1865 census. Other local sources of 18th and 19th century Norwegian data are also being collected.

*Roll of Emigrants to Liberia, 1820-1843 and Liberian Census Data, 1843
This data set, stored at the Data and Program Library Service of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, contains information on all emigrants to Liberia between 1820 and 1843 who were sent to Liberia by the American Colonization Society. Liberian census data for 1843 is also available.

*Scottish Economic History Database, 1550 - 1780
As the name of this database suggests, it contains a variety of Scottish historical data. Included is data on crop yields, demographic data, price and wage series, and weather statistics.

*Slave Movement During the Eighteenth and Nineteenth Centuries
This site, provided by the Data and Program Library Service of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, contains data on slave movements by ship and data on the slave trade.

*United States Historical Census Data Browser
Information for each state and county from decennial census for the years 1790-1960 is stored at this site. Online reports can be generated at the state or county level for selected variables.

*Victorian Census Project
This project provides downloadable census data from the 1831 and 1861 British census.
