8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.     Lecture & Discussion led by Professor Clif Hood:  Professor Hood will discuss the rise of big business in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with an emphasis on the growth of railroads and the economy. 
—Resistance to the power posed by big business, especially in the form of labor unions and strikes, will also be discussed.  

10:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.  Break  

10:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.  Lecture & Discussion led by Professor Clif Hood (details to come) 

11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.  Irish Immigrant-Inspired Lunch 

12:45 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.   Teaching the Gilded Age: Pedagogy activities led by Gloria Sesso

8:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m.    Lecture & Discussion led by Professor Clif Hood: Professor Hood will discuss immigration to America in the early 20th century with special attention to the role of immigrants as laborers.  

10:00 a.m.–10:15 a.m.  Break  

10:15 a.m.–11:45 a.m.  Teaching the Gilded Age: Pedagogy activities led by Gloria Sesso  

11:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m.  Italian Immigrant-Inspired Lunch 

          1:00 p.m.-1:45 p.m.  Go to the computer lab and play around on the Gilder Lehrman website 

          1:45 p.m.-2:15  p.m. Hand out the rubric for the lesson plan requirement and discuss       expectations

          2:15 p.m.-2:30 p.m.    Hand out the AP History review books 

          2:30 p.m.-3:00  p.m.  Discuss summer seminar and trip plans;  dates, plans, and ideas
