From Larry C talking about our Fort Snelling presenter: "I loved his advice to find history close to home. A good resource for doing so is the Google News Archive. (save that link, it is maddeningly hard to find!). Play around with the advanced search features--I usually limit my search by years and to "no price" (free!) articles. Try a search for articles that contain the word Minnesota and the exact phrase "prisoners of war." As you see only some of the articles are relevant, you might try adding search terms such as the name of a particular town where there was a German POW camp. The Google news archive is pretty hit-and-miss, here is a list of the newspapers scanned so far." - Without Sanctuary: Lynching Photography in America
