Sketchbook Week 9: Circles in Perspective
Three Drawings
 
Subject: Cylindrical Geometric Forms
Materials: 9"x11 3/4" Strathmore 400 paper, gum and kneaded erasers, sanguine Conte crayons, Charcoal pencils, blending stump, chamois

The assignment this week will help you develop your ability to draw circles in perspective and the volumes that are represented by them.

Drawing#1
1) Working from the plaster cone in CA 170, complete one page of extended gestural studies exploring the shape and proportion of the form from three points of view. Begin lightly with the 2H pencil and proceed to the HB when you are ready to clarify shape and general value. 40-60 minutes.

Drawing #2
1) Follow the instructions for Drawing #1, this time drawing the cylinder form. 40-60 minutes.


Drawing #3

1) Follow the instructions for Drawing #1, this time drawing views of both forms in relationship to one another. 40-60 minutes.
