What will the campers learn and experience?
Students will spend their time with a group of other students and several instructors doing a variety of hand-on science activities, learn about using specialized equipment, go on field trips, and complete a research project by the end of the week. Past classes include: BioTimeBandits; Physics of Sport; Spineless Creature; Slime, Energy Explorers, Crime Scene Science and Robotics. 2014 summer sessions are on-line - select the "13 -18 Year Olds"
What will be done to ensure the safety of the campers?
Classes will be taught by a college faculty member and at least one college student teaching assistant. The adult:student ratio in the classroom varies from 1:5 to 1:12. University vans (12-passenger) are used for field trips. The campus has a health center with medial professionals on staff. Students will not be permitted to leave campus unless a special arrangement has been made for a parent/guardian to pick them up.
What about lunch? There is a lunch break between afternoon and morning sessions. Campers are encouraged to bring their own lunch.
Is there transportation?
Transportation will be provided for any field trips as part of a session.
