This training module provides you the opportunity to explore the IDEA mandates that define transitional services as well as other federal legislation impacting the transitions of youth with disabilities. Linking to the IDEA mandates below takes you to definitions of the essential components of transition as identified in the law. Within these descriptions you will find links to several resources: 1) description of useful transition assessment instruments and 2) description of the transition IEP planning process.
Also within this module is description of other legislation that impacts the transition of youth with disabilities. These links provide bulleted summaries of several key legislative acts.
Finally, in this module, three forms of self-evaluation are available to you. The first is a Jeopardy Game that will help you explore key concepts after completing the module. Secondly, there are reflective questions that evaluate your understanding of transition. Finally, there is an objective test that allows you to self evaluate your learning.
