Lecture Information: This week's lesson taken from Erik Erikson's theory of Psycho-Social Development, is one that is based on very reflective psycho-analytic principles. Given this approach, since Erikson was actually trained at Freud's institute in Vienna, it is very difficult for you to place your student in only one of the stages. Therefore, even though they are dealing with the conflict of Identity and Role Confusion, they could very easily also be dealing with Trust issues from a previous stage. So because of this "reversion back to childhood" aspect of this theory, I will ask you to place them first in the stage of conflict that is manifesting at present as well as other conflicts that were resolved negatively from their past. As always, I expect your analysis to be grounded in observable behavioral evidence. |
