There are two different types of opportunities available in the laboratory.

Research opportunities:

The research page will provide a quick overview of the topics that excite us.  If you are an MSUM undergraduate student interested in joining the lab, please email Dr. Stocker.  In that email you should detail your scientific background (i.e. what courses you have taken and previous research undertaken, if any), your research interests, and why you think our lab would be a good mutual fit.  Emails that do not convey why you are specifically interested in this lab and this research will not be answered.  Ultimately, I am looking for enthusiastic, curious, responsible, and self-motivated individuals to join the lab.

Animal husbandry opportunities:

The research undertaken in the lab utilize mice maintained in our own colony on campus.  As such, there are also spaces for students looking to gain experience with mammalian husbandry (e.g. pre-veterinary students).  The research conducted requires the maintenance of a mouse colony composed of several different genetic lines.  Help is always needed to maintain the health of our colony.  MSUM undergraduate students interested in obtaining mammalian husbandry experience should email Dr. Stocker.  In that email you should detail why you would like to work with mice and what your short- and long-term goals are.  There is ample work available, but only for dependable individuals.  If you agree to care for an animal over a time frame and are unable to do so, the wellbeing of the animal suffers as a result.

*Depending on the interests of the candidate, students can participate in one or both of these activities.
