The
following are my current areas of research-
The use of online tutorials in providing
library instruction. In
1994, I was a Co-recipient of a Project SET (Sharing Educational
Technology) grant at the University of Tennessee. This grant
was used to develop an online EndNote instructional module.
This
project has led to an interest in the provision of library instruction
via the internet and to a poster that was co-presented at the 2005
American Library Association Conference that detailed the
steps in transfering a succesful class into an online tutorial. See module at http://edtech.tennessee.edu/~set37/
The
information gathering behaviors of amateur scientists.
Amateur scientists are those individuals who pursue scientific
interests outside of their professions. Their information gathering
habits are unknown and their needs possibly unmet by either public or
academic libraries. Working with fellow librarian Ron Gilmore, a survey
was designed to examine the information gathering behaviors of amateur
