The following are my current areas of research-

The use of online tutorials in providing library instruction. In 1994, I was a Co-recipient of a Project SET (Sharing Educational Technology) grant at the University of Tennessee. This grant was used to develop an online EndNote instructional module. This project has led to an interest in the provision of library instruction via the internet and to a poster that was co-presented at the 2005 American Library Association Conference that detailed the steps in transfering a succesful class into an online tutorial. See module at http://edtech.tennessee.edu/~set37/

The information gathering behaviors of amateur scientists. Amateur scientists are those individuals who pursue scientific interests outside of their professions. Their information gathering habits are unknown and their needs possibly unmet by either public or academic libraries. Working with fellow librarian Ron Gilmore, a survey was designed to examine the information gathering behaviors of amateur scientists. To see the survey see and results: http://www.lib.utk.edu/cic/amsci/amscisurvey.htm

The article based in these results will be found in Technical Services Quarterly
