Exercise A: Read the following sentences and then think of what question you might ask to get someone to answer with just the one word adjective in the sentence, which has been underlined for you.

The information that adjectives provide an answer to the question “What was/is it like?”.  More specifically, they may tell what size, what color, and so on.  They can also provide answers to the questions “what kind of _____ was it?” and “Which one(s)?”

Exercise B: Read the text below and then answer the questions with a short answer taken from the paragraph.

All the short answers you gave are noun modifiers.  Some of them are adjectives, but others might be other structures like prepositional phrases.  Look at each one again and analyze the structure of each short answer.
