Adverbs are usually thought of as verb modifiers, but they really have several functions.  They can, of course, modify verbs, but they can also modify adjectives and other adverbs as well as entire sentences.  Sentences 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 10 all provide examples of adverbs that modify the verb.  Sentences 4 and 5 are examples of adverbs modifying an adjective, and sentences 8 and 9 provide examples of an adverb modifying an entire sentence.

More examples can be found in the references on the page with the diagram of the subcategories of adverbs.  The subcategories follow the functions of the adverbs.

Look at the adverbs in the sentences above.  Can you identify the morphology of adverbs?  Can you see any derivational suffixes or any inflectional suffixes?
