Instruments can be accessed with the links below.
The math instruments are all derivations of the science instruments designed by the TRN network.

The CLES 2(20), Modified Constructivist Learning Environment Survey (and the MTEBI)

-Is a Likert-scale survey comprised of 20 statements that participants are asked to rate on a five point scale from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree.
-Seeks to determine the degree to which the classroom is constructivist.
-In our study, is given the students and to the teacher
-Based on the "Constructivist Learning Environment Survey (CLES)", originally developed by Peter Taylor and Barry Fraser at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Australia.

-Is a structured observation instrument used to collect data within the classroom.
-Focus questions direct observations within each category of five categories (knowing content, knowing pedagogy, knowing students, establishing an environment, professional development)
-In our study, is used for two classroom observations: one conceptual learning lesson and one inquiry-type lesson.
-This instrument originates from three sources:
1) The format of the instrument was taken from the Educational Testing Service’s Praxis format. We use a pre-observation questionnaire, an observation and a post-observation questionnaire.
2) The conceptual framework of the instrument was developed from Transforming Teacher Education: A Minnesota Framework for Science and Mathematics (TTE) (Simpson and Wallace, undated)
3) The third source used in the development of the document was the assessment guide developed for the (INTASC) portfolio project (Collins, 2002)

The Minnesota Mathematics Teacher Interview Instrument (MnMTII)
Interview Instrument
-Is a structured interview instrument comprised of 18 questions and prompts
-Is also organized around five categories (knowing content, knowing pedagogy, knowing students, establishing an environment, professional development).
-In our study, is audiotaped and transcribed for analysis.
-The MnMTII has it origin with the TPPI interview instrument developed by the SALISH project.
