Lab Activities:

X-ray Radiography

Explorations using the x-ray apparatus. You will be giving a 5 to 10 minute presentation to your peers during class on your activity. You should prepare 1 or 2 PowerPoint pages to showcase your results.

Apparatus Manuals X-ray tube (Molybdemum)
  Geiger-Muller tube
  X-ray Apparatus (with goniometer)
  Absorber foils
  Set of absorbers
Lab Activities Flouresence of a luminous screen
Attenuation of x-rays as a function of absober thickness or material
  Bragg reflection
  Wavelength dependence of attenuation coefficient
X-ray energy ouput vs current and HV
  Duane-Hunt and Plank's constant
  Fine structure of characteristic x-radiation
  Moseley's law and Plank's constant
Compton effect: verifing the energy loss of the scattered x-ray
